Only a citizen with no access to a television, radio or newspapers could have missed the Government's lame explanation for how it all happened. There was no point writing to those affected. Sending the letters second class at 24p meant a postage bill of £1.8 million for telling us what we already know. On top of the cost to the public and banks already incurred in this farce it is loose change; to a taxpayer this is a reminder of how casually our Government throws around money it presumes mistakenly to be its own.
